BreastScreen Queensland has temporarily suspended breast screening

BreastScreen Queensland has temporarily suspended routine breast screening due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

We understand the concerns this decision may cause. This was a difficult but necessary decision to safeguard the health of our clients, staff, and community.

All women with cancelled appointments will be notified directly, as soon as possible. We will contact clients to reschedule appointments once we can re-open.

If you have recently had a breast screen you will receive your results as normal, through the post or your online account. BreastScreen Queensland also remains open for those women who have been asked to return for additional tests.

We encourage all women to remain aware of the normal look and feel of their breasts. If you notice any changes please contact your doctor immediately, do not wait until your next breast screen. Breast changes to look out for include:

This is a rapidly changing situation and we will keep you updated here on our website about when breast screening services will be available again.

We want to reassure the community that this decision was not due to a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 at any of our clinics. Temporarily suspending these services will help reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread in our community. It will also help to free up capacity in the health care system by making our clinicians available to support and respond to COVID-19.
